Is it really free?
Yes. With the Apple voices on your Mac, every feature is free forever: no account, no card, no time limit. You only pay for premium voices, which cost us money each time they speak.
Does what I read leave my Mac?
Not with the Apple voices: finding the text and speaking it both happen on your Mac, and nothing you read is saved.
With a premium voice, the sentences being read go to ElevenLabs to be spoken. Our server counts the characters and keeps nothing else. Privacy
Why does it need Accessibility?
It is how Pointaloud sees the text under your mouse and what you highlight. Screen Recording is optional, for apps like Google Docs that draw text as pictures; it takes one still image when you press the key and keeps nothing.
Which apps does it read?
Safari, Chrome, Google Docs, TextEdit and most apps that show real text. If it ever reads the wrong thing, Report a Problem in the menu bar tells us.
What happens when my premium hours run out?
Your Apple voice takes over until your month renews, with a short note so you know why. Extra hours start at $3.29 and never expire.
How do I subscribe or cancel?
Both happen in the app, under Settings, Subscription. A cancelled plan stays on until the end of the time you paid for. Refunds
Will it run on my Mac?
Any Mac with macOS 14 Sonoma or later, Apple silicon or Intel.
